TEMPER Gets Cover Art!

Posted by Nicky Drayden on Jan 8, 2018 in Writer's Life

My sff/horror/dark humor novel TEMPER is headed to a bookstore near you Aug 07, 2018!

I’m so excited to share the story about how I came across this amazing artist! Read about it here on Harper Voyager’s Blog!

Descriptions are up on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and you can also add it to your Goodreads queue, just to be sure you don’t miss out on some devilish fun.

Also, THE PREY OF GODS is available as an audiobook, and the narrator is amazing. Take a listen to the sample for yourself!

And if you’re looking to get lost in some amazing stories, here are some of my favorite reads of 2017:

The competition was really strong, so check my Goodreads 2017 Reading Challenge to see the rest of the list.

Here are a few of my favorite reads of the year:

  • The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty – about a girl with magic powers and her hunky pet Djinn. (But don’t call him that!)
  • Noumenon by Marina J. Lostetter – which features a super-intelligent, sentient AI charged with overseeing the many needs of an interstellar convoy.
  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – A Black LIves Matter inspired story about a girl coping with effects of a police shooting in her community.
  • Parable of the Sower/Parable of the Talents
    by Octavia E. Butler
     – Because if we’re living in a dystopia, might as well be prepared.

Ready. Set. Write!

Posted by Nicky Drayden on Nov 2, 2017 in Writer's Life

Hello! Happy November! And you know what that means…It’s National Novel Writing Month! I’m going “against the rules” this year, and will be working on the NaNo Project that I didn’t finish last year. I’m super excited to see what happens in the story! I encourage everyone to try NaNoWriMo at least once, even if you’re not a writer. I believe everyone has a story itching to get out of them, and writing with the support of a community makes it a little easier. And if you want, you can friend me.

In addition to trying to write a novel this month, I’ll also be doing several conventions, including World Fantasy Con this Friday, and Texas Book Festival this Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also make an appearance at Wizard World Austin ComicCon mid November.
