Writer’s Life: The Ups and Downs of May

Posted by Nicky Drayden on May 23, 2010 in Writer's Life |

Yes, I’m behind on my reviews this month, and yes, I have the appropriate amount of writer’s guilt to go with it. I just got back from a fabulous week-long road trip visiting family, during which I also slogged around the printed manuscript of my current novel, which I edited during long stretches of road (while not driving) and through the airport today where I got about three chapters hacked up pretty good. I also chatted with a couple inquisitive folks who saw me with my massive binder of paper and got to practice my pitch a little.

In other news, I’ve made three sales this May, a short story and two poems, which is a record for me for the most acceptances in a month. Plus I’ve got a crazy idea to start a new novel on June 1st, which coincidentally is the date I’ll be delivering my current novel for critique in my writing group. It should make for a busy few months, but I’ll still be cracking at reviews, finishing up this World Building series and moving onto something new for June/July.

Anyway, I’m still here. Still writing and reading, and will return you to your regularly scheduled program shortly.
